Bluffdale, Utah, monopole - February 2006

This cellular, monopole tower, in Bluffdale, Utah, in the flight path of the SLC Airport, had been in the weather awhile, and should have been weathered enough to hold tower paint, and it was, except for numerous "slick spots," where sprayed on paint would not have adhered. My choice was to mitt it with vinegar or some other acid-etching solution, and then spray it with FAA tower paint colors, or mitt it with tower paint, and deal with the slick spots as they occurred.

The weather was usually bad, with snow or rain every day, with intermittent sunshine. The temperature at night was freezing. The customer had to have the tower painted right away. It might have had something to do with the Apache helicopters that were always flying past.

This project took a lot of time, and we didn't charge enough, but ABC Tower Service, Inc. is dedicated to quality, and it's Number One Certified Quality Tower Painter, could do no less than near perfect "B" tower painting work. It would have dulled my soul to do less.

I forget how tall this monopole tower was. If anybody want to know, I'll look it up.
